Syria Reconstruction: A New Export Opportunity for Egyptian Ceramics
During a meeting with ceramics and porcelain manufacturers in March 2026, the Ministry of Industry reaffirmed its commitment to increasing production and exports, while highlighting manufacturers’ interest in leveraging reconstruction opportunities in neighboring countries.
Syria’s reconstruction could represent a potential export opportunity for Egyptian ceramics, particularly with the Syria Reconstruction Conference and Exhibition scheduled to take place in Damascus from September 13–16, 2026, bringing together companies from several countries and sectors related to construction and building materials. Accelerating reconstruction projects could generate additional demand for ceramics, porcelain and sanitary ware, although competition, particularly from Turkey, remains a key factor to monitor.
The potential benefit to listed companies is likely to vary depending on their exposure to international markets, with the export-to-total sales ratio serving as an important indicator of each company’s sensitivity to potential growth in export demand. We believe Arab Ceramic – Remas (CERA) is among the key potential beneficiaries, with exports accounting for approximately 60% of total sales, followed by Al Ezz Ceramics & Porcelain (ECAP) at around 20%, and Lecico Egypt (LCSW) at approximately 14%, based on 2025 figures.
Accordingly, CERA appears to be the most sensitive to any improvement in external demand, while ECAP and LCSW could benefit to varying degrees.
