MNT-Halan IPO: A New Valuation Benchmark for Egypt’s Fintech Sector?
Egypt’s fintech landscape could be heading toward another major milestone, as MNT-Halan is reportedly exploring a potential listing on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX).
Scope: Egyptian operations only
Potential timing: Late 2026 / early 2027
Advisers: EFG Hermes & Citi
Recent group valuation: $1.4bn following a funding round led by Al Ahly Capital in June 2026.
MNT-Halan has evolved beyond traditional lending into an integrated fintech platform, offering consumer finance, SME financing, BNPL, digital payments, e-wallets and other financial services.
Why does this matter for Valu?
Valu could be one of the closest listed peers to MNT-Halan, particularly from a consumer finance and fintech perspective.
Valu delivered strong growth in 1H26:
Gross Revenue: EGP 3.2bn (+29% YoY)
Net Income: EGP 486mn (+43% YoY)
GMV: EGP 14.6bn (+38% YoY)
Loan Issuances: EGP 13bn (+47% YoY)
Active Customers: 955k (+15% YoY)
Market Share: 21%
NPL: 1.16%
Therefore, a successful MNT-Halan IPO could provide the Egyptian market with a new valuation benchmark for fintech and consumer-finance companies.
If MNT-Halan manages to command a strong valuation multiple, this could support a re-rating of listed peers such as Valu.
The MNT-Halan IPO is not just another potential listing. It could become an important valuation test for Egypt’s fintech sector — with Valu being one of the key listed names to watch.
Note: The IPO valuation and timing remain preliminary and have not been finalized.
